Following the drunken antics of last weekend I decided I would start my week in a calmer fashion. Luckily I had Monday off work, so I spent the day flat hunting and generally sorting my life out – it’s amazing what you can get done!
By Thursday I was itching to have a few drinks, so the Brighton boys and I headed down to Charles Street for some cheap Thursday frolics. The bar was packed out (for a change) and some very cute young men were treading the boards - maybe they’re already here for Brighton Pride?!
Sadly the evening showed just how bitchy the scene can be. We were out having drinks; nothing more; no intention of heading to a club; just two or three drinks with the intention of being home by midnight - it was a school night after all! So, when I heard back two days later that a delightful member of the Brighton scene had informed my friend’s boyfriend about how “totally smashed” he was, it frankly pissed me right off. I mean, why do that? Anyway enough rant - for now...
During Thursday evening we decided that on Saturday we would have a big night out in Brighton, which would include entry into Revenge. With me now spending most weekends in London, I haven’t been to Revenge in some time, for a few reasons, so I decided I would go, head held high and ensure I looked nothing less than perfect.
The boys all arrived at my flat for 9pm. We threw on the Beyonce and partied away for an hour or so before heading down to Charles Street for pre-drinking! It was a particularly muggy evening so most of the evening was spent outside on the smoking terrace - also for fear that our tans would run!
By midnight we headed over to Revenge and kicked off the night! The upstairs bar, now known as ‘box bar’, is looking fantastic with a sensational light display and I am sure it will be a real hit for Pride. Alas there was a lack of attractive men, but that’s the Brighton gay scene for you. I think I am now at a stage where the pool of guys between 21 and 26 who are actually really fit and relatively normal is so small in Brighton that I have given up on even bothering to look! Luckily I’m planning a weekend in London this week where the selection is far better.
At 3am we headed into Vavoom, although the night took a slightly sour turn at this stage when I was very hurt unnecessarily by my ex. However, I kept that head high and carried on partying. My friends Jack and Alfie were also in town having driven down from Essex so I made sure I kept my spirits up. My housemate Daisy had also joined us and somehow I was convinced into entering the Bulldog of all places! Still, live and let live I suppose!
