Plot
It’s been many years since Ned last saw the father he loathed as a child. But the old man is dying so he travels across the outback to the family home one last time. Told in parallel timelines, Ned is haunted by memories of a romanticised childhood spent with his older brother Cliff and twin sister Kate.

Ned holds Bruce responsible for Kate’s death and his brother’s related suicide, but as the true nature of the family’s dynamics unfolds it becomes clear that Ned’s relationship with his sister runs deeper than mere familial affection and maybe Bruce wasn’t quite the villain Ned remembers.

Verdict
It’s an accomplished effort from writer-director Rachel Ward, who tackles a tricky subject with sensitivity and, although much of the ‘mystery’ is pretty obvious, there’s an unforeseen twist, too.

Director: Rachel Ward
